Through the different images that have come out of this film in progress (location scouting photos, research sequences, filming notes, etc.) the filmmaker will attempt to ask questions of his own practices as well as the different modalities of significations of images in the digital era of generalized information.

Curator's zone - "Masnâa Saghir",  dans l'intimité

Artistes invités : ismaël, Fakhri El Ghezal et Randa Maroufi

curated by Jeanne Mercier

For its 4th annual curator’s zone, Le Cube has invited the independent commissioner and cofounder of the platform Afrique in Visu, Jeanne Mercier. In a desire to extend the existing connections between Rabat and Casablanca, Jeanne Mercier is offering an exhibit at Le Cube echoing the casaoui MASNAÂ festival whose 4th annual gathering (May 9-16, 2016) will take a look at contemporary creation in two cities, Casablanca and Tunis, through the presentation of artistic projects originating from two countries, from the fields of visual art, cinema, music and performance.

Masnaâ Saghir will present three artists whose work explores, on different levels, relations to the intimate. Playing with the space itself, Le Cube — a former apartment transformed into an arts center — this exhibit assembles photographic and video offerings from ismaël Leamsi, Fakhri El Ghezal and Randa Maroufi.

Jeanne Mercier is the cofounder and editor in chief of Afrique in visu. In 2005 she produced a memoir at “Les Rencontres Africaines de la Photographie” (“African Encounters with Photography”) (LHIVIC-EHESS) and works on new practices and forms of diffusion of photography in north and west Africa. Today, she divides her time between Africa in visu and activities related to advising the cultural programming around practices of contemporary African photography and concerns relating to the profession of the photographer in Africa. She is currently writing for various artistic and photographic journals, L’Oeil de la Photographie and Diptyk. In 2015, she was the commissioner of Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie de Fès (International Encouters with Photography Fès). In June/July of 2016, she is invited by the city of Lisbonne and Africa.Cont/CML for a curatorial research residency.
